Call for Employee Spotlight Submissions

This Week at JWU is looking to spotlight more faculty and staff on campus each month. Do you have a colleague who exemplifies the Wildcat Way? Do you work with someone who spends their time volunteering for an incredible cause? Is there someone you work with that has a great story to tell, or may be doing something fascinating in the classroom with their students? This Week at JWU wants to know!

Please submit the person’s name and a few sentences about them to Lauren Tkacs, manager of internal communications, to be considered for an employee spotlight in This Week at JWU. Please note: a photo of the employee must be included with the spotlight – please be sure the person you are nominating is comfortable with having their photo taken.

Hundreds Help Welcome the Class of 2022

This summer’s New Student Orientation program, which ran from June 25 to July 27, gave JWU’s newest Wildcats and their families a warm welcome into the JWU family. More than 1,500 first-year and transfer students participated in various activities, presentations and trainings, led by nearly 60 OTEAM members (orientation leaders, orientation assistants and family assistants) and more than 270 student and staff volunteers.

Orientation is truly a campuswide initiative in making the most memorable and meaningful experiences for these students. Faculty and staff, including some new JWU parents, have an equally memorable time participating in Orientation. Read a few stories from this year’s program.

Kevin Casey Named Johnson & Wales Baseball Head Coach

For just the third time in program history, the Johnson & Wales University baseball team has a new head coach. An assistant at the NCAA Division I & III levels, Kevin Casey has been hired as the Wildcats' newest dugout boss as announced by JWU Associate Dean of Students Mel Graf.

Coach Casey comes to the Wildcats from Northeastern University where he was an assistant for four years. Casey was part of a rebuilding process that culminated in 2018 with a 36-21 record and the Huskies' first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2003. Northeastern won a pair of Colonial Athletic Association regular season titles during his tenure. Casey oversaw the hitters and outfielders, while also spending a season coaching the catchers.
