University Communications has been renamed to University Marketing. This change more accurately describes the work of the department and helps distinguish it from Communications & Media Relations. University Marketing’s primary strategic objective is to collaborate with university leadership, enrollment management, academic departments, and branch campuses to achieve the annual enrollment goals for Johnson & Wales. By providing experience, guidance, implementation and oversight of messaging and creative assets, University Marketing ensures the elevation of brand perception and consideration.
Under the leadership of Doug Whiting, vice president of university marketing, and Joe Magennis, director of university marketing, the department also has responsibility for the development, iteration, and maintenance of critical marketing technologies including websites, video production, and photography, as well as the stewardship of these assets for documentation and dissemination of the Johnson & Wales experience over the long and short term. Finally, the department collaborates with high visibility areas within the university to ensure JWU’s social media messaging meets brand standards and best practices.
The areas of Digital Communications and Marketing merged, creating a new unit called Content Development under the direction of Jamie MacDonald. This area consists of print and digital content developers, photography and videography. Design & Editorial Services was renamed to Design Services under the direction of Brian Murphy.
