College of Online Education Promotions

The College of Online Education (COE) is pleased to share a number of staff promotions with the JWU community.

Announced in a memo sent in July from Provost Billye Auclair, Ph.D., Cindy Parker, Ed.D., ’09 MBA, who has been the COE dean since 2013, is now the vice president of online education. In her new leadership role, she will focus on the budget and operational side of the college. Working closely with Cindy since 2014 has been David Cartwright, CPA, as COE’s director of online academics. David has been promoted to dean of the College of Online Education. In his new leadership role, David will focus on the academic side of COE, developing and implementing new online undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and continuing education programming.

Rachael Arestad has been promoted to online data analyst. Rachael is responsible for producing meaningful reports and analyses which support the college’s business operations. She has been with JWU for four years and started at COE as an online student information specialist.

Denise Duval has been promoted to online student transfer advisor team lead. Denise will supervise the other online student transfer advisors, as well as help to lead the Prior Learning Assessment initiative for COE. She has been with JWU for 30 years and has worked in many areas of the university, including Student Financial Services and the Renaissance Group prior to coming to COE in 2014 as an online student transfer advisor.

Grace Flaherty has been promoted to online admissions associate team lead for Graduate Programs. Grace will oversee the online admissions associates who are assigned to COE’s graduate programs. She has been with JWU for two years and started at the college as an online admissions associate.

Michael O’Malley has been promoted to academic director of online programs. Michael will manage the program growth, development, and quality of the online programs in the College of Hospitality Management and College of Culinary Arts. He has been with JWU for eight years and started at Experiential Education & Career Services. Michael joined COE as an online academic advisor in 2014, most recently serving as senior online academic advisor.
