JWU is collaborating with the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Providence Animal Rescue League, and the Rhode Island Donation Exchange for the fourth annual Move Out & Donate campaign running now through Tuesday, May 21.
Students are encouraged to recycle and donate their unwanted household items, bedding, electronics, clothing, food and other items that would be discarded at the end of the academic year. Faculty and staff are invited to join this effort and bring items in from home.
Faculty/staff donation bin locations: the Wildcat Center and Richmond Parking Garage (donation bins are also located in most of the residence halls – for students only)
This campaign is a campuswide effort involving many departments including JWU ECO, Facilities, Residential Life, Student Services, and more. College of Business Associate Professor Elizabeth Carey’s portfolio class built the marketing strategy for this year’s campaign and has for the past three years. The strategy includes creating social media posts for Instagram and signage to place strategically around campus. Learn more about these students.
During the 2018 campaign, JWU donated 1,367 pounds of household items and 8,369 pounds of clothing. Let’s make this year an even bigger success!
