Kate Ryan is a RI native currently based in New York City. She is an international human rights journalist and photographer covering immigration, gender violence, criminal justice and women’s health. Her latest project, Signed X, featured in the New York Times, was born so that survivors of sexual violence could share their stories. This exhibit features the words of long-term survivors, edited from interviews and reordered for clarity, and signed with a first name or initial to protect the privacy of that individual.
The exhibition is traveling to various RI colleges this spring, and it will be on display at JWU from April 28 to May 3 as a part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, in several campus locations: Downcity Library, Harborside Library, BRIDGE Center, and the graduate student lounge (second floor of The Friedman Center).
This program is sponsored by the Gender Equity Center, JWU Library, JWU BRIDGE and graduate business programs. Contact the Gender Equity Center with any questions.
