Attention Managers of Staff, Faculty and Students
On July 1, 2018, a new paid sick time and safe leave law was enacted in Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Healthy and Safe Families and Workplaces Act. This law provides employees who work in Rhode Island for an employer with 18 or more employees the right to accrue and use paid sick and safe leave from work.
Employees affected by this law include full-time and part-time faculty and staff, temporary and seasonal employees, and student employees other than those in the federal college work-study program.
