Industry Leaders Receive Honors at JWU Commencement 2018

Six luminaries representing a range of industry and academia will receive honorary degrees when the 2018 Commencement Ceremonies are held for the Providence Campus, May 18-19, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Graduate Studies Ceremony
Friday, May 18, 2018 – 11am

  • Laura Freid, Ed.D., president, Maine College of Art, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (commencement speaker)
  • Joseph R. Beretta, president and chief financial officer, Robinson Green Beretta Corp., will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration

John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, College of Business, College of Engineering & Design and College of Hospitality Management – 8:45am

  • John E. Taylor Jr., chairman of the board, Twin River Worldwide Holdings Inc., will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (commencement speaker)
  • Thomas L. Dwyer, executive vice president and former vice chancellor, Johnson & Wales University, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration


College of Culinary Arts and College of Hospitality Management (Foodservice Management) – 1:45pm

  • Maribeth N. Bisienere, senior vice president, Parks and Security, Walt Disney World, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration (commencement speaker)
  • Paul F. O’Reilly, president and chief executive officer, Newport Harbor Corporation, will receive an honorary Doctor of Business Administration


JWU’s Providence Campus will award more than 1,650 undergraduate degrees, 360 graduate degrees and 18 doctoral degrees. Universitywide, 3,200 degrees will be awarded, including the College of Online Education.
