Johnson & Wales University is proud to announce the addition of Robin Scheimer as the Wildcats' new head athletic trainer.
A native of Pittsburgh, Scheimer brings seven years of athletic training experience to JWU Denver. Most recently she was the Director of Sports Medicine at Allegheny College, an NCAA Division III member in Meadville, PA.
In her role with the Gators, Robin oversaw and coordinated medical coverage and injury rehabilitation for the college's 21 varsity sports. She also managed two staff athletic trainers, was a member of the athletics administration team and established Allegheny's first weekly on-campus team physician clinic.
Scheimer's contributions to the Gators went far beyond her day-to-day responsibilities and included her aid in securing two additional sports to the varsity athletics program, adding a third assistant athletic trainer on staff and designing the expansion of the stadium athletic training room.
A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh in 2012, with a master's of science in athletic training from Ohio University in 2013, Scheimer was also the NCAA Athletics Healthcare Administrator for Allegheny.
Scheimer came to Allegheny after spending four years as the assistant athletic trainer Kenyon College in Gambier, OH. While at Kenyon, Scheimer was the primary athletic trainer for men's soccer, baseball, men's basketball, field hockey, swimming and diving, tennis, and cross country. In addition to her role with her assigned sports, Scheimer was also responsible for a number of administrative duties, including serving as the primary liaison with the team' physician, nurse practitioners, and school's health center, coordinating all off-campus medical appointments and testing, assisting with medical and rehabilitation services for the school's non-athlete population, maintaining all medical record documentation, and assisting with external healthcare coverage for the school's club teams.
A certified BLS, CPR, AED, and First Aid instructor, Scheimer also was a professor of Sports Medicine and Wellness at Kenyon, as well as an assistant professor for Anatomy and Physiology.
Scheimer spent the 2012-13 academic year as the head athletic trainer at Meigs High School in Pomeroy, OH. At Meigs, she was the lone athletic trainer responsible for coverage of 22 varsity teams, and performed all administrative duties. During her time at Meigs, she also worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Ohio University, assisting with varsity and club athletic coverage, while also serving as a teaching assistant for the school's Introduction to Athletic Training class.
Robin currently resides in Denver with her husband Andy.
