  • The news of President Mim L. Runey, LP.D.’s appointment as JWU’s next chancellor spread both locally and nationally after the announcement hit on Tuesday, July 31, including the Associated Press, LA Times, US News & World Reports, Chicago Tribune, Connecticut Post, Boston Globe, and more. More locally this announcement was covered by the Providence Journal, Providence Business News, Sun Chronicle,,, and GoLocalProv. President Runey was also named to GoLocalProv’s “Who’s Hot” list on August 3. 

  • Bridget Sweet, executive director of food safety, and Bill Idell, assistant dean in the College of Culinary Arts, were interviewed for a feature story in the Providence Business News, “Does Rhode Island have right approach on food waste?

  • Providence Business News featured JWU’s Craft Brewer Certificate program in a recent story, “Isle Brewers Guild Partners with JWU to Offer Online Craft Brewing Certificate.” Jennifer Pereira, associate professor in the College of Culinary Arts, was interviewed. She and Ed Korry, department chair and associate professor in the College of Culinary Arts, are pictured with members from Isle Brewers Guild.

  • Feature story, "Check, Please: The True Cost of Eating Out," in the latest issue of RI Monthly is now online. JWU alums featured include Ben Sukle, Derek Wagner and James Mark.

  • Providence Business News published a story highlighting the victories of 5 JWU undergraduates and 2 graduate human resources students in the 2018 Society for Human Resource Management Student Case Competition. Read more.

  • The August issue of The Rhode Island Medical Journal features the JWU Class of 2020 (pictured below) on the cover and articles written by Dr. George Bottomley, director of the Physician Assistant Studies program, PA faculty member Ashley Hughes, and a number of PA students.

Chancellor of Johnson & Wales University


On Tuesday, July 31, James H. Hance Jr., chair of the JWU Board of Trustees, announced the appointment of Mim L. Runey, LP.D., as chancellor of Johnson & Wales University, effective October 1, 2018, to the JWU community.
