In case you missed it: New JWU Brand Style Guide and Updated Graphic Standards
Chef Susan Lagalle, CEPC, senior instructor, College of Culinary Arts, explored the history of Irish Soda Bread. She wrote about her discoveries in the spring issue of Pastry Arts magazine and included a recipe for Spotted Dog, the sweet version of Irish soda bread. Chef Lagalle converted the formula for the home-cook, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Read the full issue of the magazine or find her article here.
Katrina Herold, CWE, associate professor, College of Culinary Arts, knows the buzz when it comes to coffee. She provided an historical perspective on the caffeinated beverage which has become as revered as fine wine in the March issue of SO Rhode Island. Read more.
Alarm and Sprinkler Testing, March 18-29
Facilities Management will be conducting fire alarm and sprinkler testing throughout the Harborside and Downcity campuses from Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 29. These tests will occur sporadically and throughout all of our buildings, including residence halls. The fire alarms will set off short beeps. The sprinklers will not discharge and no alarms will sound. Facilities apologizes in advance for the disruption. Conversion to Semesters Update/Academic Calendar 2020-2021
After years of preparation, Johnson & Wales University launched the conversion to semesters in fall of 2018. The university will complete the conversion to semesters in fall of 2020 when all undergraduate and master’s level education programs will be delivered on a semester calendar. The 2020-2021 academic calendar for undergraduate and graduate programs has been finalized and is posted online. Chancellor Mim L. Runey, LP.D., issued a mid-year update to faculty and staff at the Providence Campus on March 5. The update includes several topics that were first discussed at her summer 2018 state of the campus address. Read more.
