  • Over the course of two days, Edible Rhody visited two JWU culinary classes to examine how flavor is taught within our curriculum. The writer observed Chef Jaime Schick's BPA 2020 Plated Desserts lab and Chef John Dion's CUL1115 Science of Cooking & Sensory Analysis lab. Chef Maureen Pothier, department chair and associate professor, was also interviewed. Read "In favor of flavor."

  • Mari Dias, Ed.D., professor in the John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, wrote a commentary examining anxiety and grief during the holidays and ways to cope and enjoy the spirit of the season. The piece was published in The Herald News and Worcester Telegram & Gazette. Dias was also a guest recently on The Saturday Morning News with Steve Klamkin on AM630/99.7FM WPRO. They discussed how to cope with grief during the holiday season after losing a loved one.

  • In an interview with NerdWalletDiane McCrohan, associate professor in the College of Business, warned consumers that last minute shopping can result in exceeding your holiday budget. Read more.

  • If you were up early this past Saturday morning, you may have heard Liz Van Patten, Ed.D., CHE, associate professor, Sports, Entertainment, Event – Management (SEEM) on the Saturday Morning News, WPRO 630 AM /99.7 FM. She spoke with host Steve Klamkin about how to reduce stress for holiday party planning. Tips included making a budget and sticking to it and preparing food ahead of the event – simple tips that will reduce your stress so you can enjoy the party, too.

  • Kevin DeJesus, Ph.D., assistant professor in the John Hazen White College of Arts & Sciences, was interviewed by WPRO’s Steve Klamkin about the lasting impact President George H. W. Bush has had on United States foreign policy.

Campus Announcement

Alarm and Sprinkler Testing
Facilities Management will be conducting fire alarm and sprinkler testing throughout the Harborside and Downcity campuses from Monday, December 10 through Monday, January 7. These tests will occur sporadically and throughout all of our buildings, including residence halls. The fire alarm will set off short beeps. The sprinklers will not discharge and no alarms will sound. We apologize in advance for the disruption.
